TOUR THE CENTER
A Safe Place for Children to Be Heard
When a child walks through our doors, they are entering a place designed just for them — a place where they can feel safe, supported, and respected.
The Children’s Advocacy Center – First Judicial District was created to reduce trauma and provide a child-friendly environment during difficult times. Every space inside our center is intentionally designed to feel calm, welcoming, and secure.
We understand that stepping into the unknown can feel overwhelming. That’s why we want families to know exactly what to expect.
A Warm Welcome
From the moment families arrive, they are greeted in a comfortable, inviting reception area. This space is designed to feel more like a living room than an office.
Soft seating, child-friendly décor, and a peaceful atmosphere help children feel at ease. Our trained advocates are there to answer questions, offer reassurance, and guide families through the process.
This is not a courthouse.
This is not a police station.
This is a place centered on children.
The Forensic Interview Room
This is a quiet, private space where a child speaks with a specially trained forensic interviewer. The room is designed to feel simple and non-intimidating.
There are no uniforms.
No pressure.
No distractions.
The child is given the opportunity to share their experience in their own words, at their own pace.
Nearby, members of the investigative team observe through secure technology. This coordinated approach helps prevent children from having to repeat their story multiple times.
Family Support
While a child is being interviewed, caregivers are supported by one of our trained advocates in a separate, private area.
- Emotional support during the process
- Clear explanations of what to expect
- Information about next steps
- Referrals for counseling and additional services
- Ongoing guidance throughout the case
Families are never left to navigate this process alone.
